Out of the English translations? The 1611 King James Version has my vote.

I don't think it's possible to find an 'accurate' bible translation. There is no 'original' manuscript to translate from, just 1000s of scraps of papyrus collected and passed down through the centuries by monastic scribes who tediously hand-copied the fading documents. Clerics (priests, bishops, popes) approved some books and burned others. What's left is a hodge-podge. What specific books do you want your bible to include/ exclude? See the problem? N.T. I dont know if its the most accurate, but its definitely very easy to understand "the message" version is very easy to read and easy to understand.

The Atheist Bible IT's very easy to read and doesn't require faith...it's only one passage long and it states: There is no god, so have some accountability for your life, stop being a gullible fool, go out and do something good because you know you should, not because a book told you to. Live your life for the goodness of yourself and seek to live harmoniously with those around you. Knowledge is power, question everything, find your own truths, be a free thinker, love hard, play hard, work hard, because no one knows what tomorrow brings and what lies beyond death's door (if anything at all). Use your time enjoying the life you have instead of preparing for it's end.

King James Ver but later in life my mother went to the New American Standard Bible. She was pretty sharp on the Christian faith.

For the most part, most bibles say the same thing..just worded a little differently so as to be more understandable. I have read and checked SEVERAL versions and I find that some take out a word which can change the meaning and some put a word in that can change a meaning..depending on what the translator was trying to promote. So that is where the reader has to do his homework in order to get the intended meaning. I have 6 different translations on my bookshelf and I also have about 50 trans. a fingertip away: www.biblegateway.com

Well you didn't define "true" so I'm going to interpret your use of the word as meaning, "Original, authentic, complete, and without any error relative to the author's original thoughts, intent, and meaning." A: The original manuscripts. However, if you're asking which is the "true" translation that's a matter of opinion since a direct word for word translation from one language to another is often a matter of judgment and interpretation. And since this was asked in the Mormonism section of AB . . . However, were I a Latter Day Saint like yourself the dogmatic answer would be: "The Joseph Smith Translation" (aka "Inspired Version") which the LDS Church, strangely, does not use despite that translation's claim of divine inspiration. That issue is was asked in this AB question/answer sequence but never really answered: http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1242457 Here's a link to an article on this translation: http://www.centerplace.org/library/tracts/iv_IsraelASmith.htm . And here's a link to an online version of this translation: http://www.centerplace.org/hs/iv/default.htm Never-the-less, I would point the curious to the following presentation by former LDS Apostle Bruce R. McConkie in which he addresses this profound question as only he could: http://www.concernedchristians.com/index.php?option=com_fireboard&Itemid=42&func=view&catid=507&id=77412#77412

They are all full of lies mixed with material stolen from religions that predated it.

Ha ha! Just today, I read this article: "Scholar Claims Dead Sea Scrolls 'Authors' Never Existed" http://news.yahoo.com/s/time/20090316/wl_time/08599188542100 I can't wait to hear the one about the Bible - of coure, not that it's gonna make any difference with the believers or anything

What exactly do you mean by "most accurate?"
-
This one, as it provides arguments and promotes critical thinking. If God exists and gave us free will and intelligence, then I'm sure He would/does approve. http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/index.htm
