  • I got extremely more paranoid after I discovered that YES, the Feds were in fact after me. Even now two years after they dropped the investigation I'm still very paranoid.
  • That is called being a good neighbor. Back when I was a kid, we didn't lock our back door even when we lived in the city and across from the county jail. All our neighbors did exactly what you are doing, and it made locks and alarms obsolete. Now that our nosy neighbors have died or moved and most people are gone to work all day, no retirees or stay at home moms in the neighborhood, the current owners can't keep thieves out of the house, even with a new back door and a deadbolt.
  • I live in an old house converted into apartments one block from "drug alley." I do not bother looking out the window for noise because I know what it is. I am on the second story and there is no easy access in so I just ignore it. However, if I hear noise going up to the apartment above me (they rent the attic in this building as an apartment) that I do not know is supposed to be there I take a look to make sure it is my neighbors or their friends. I also, when the apartment across the hall was occupied took a peek to make certain it was my neighbor. I hope that they keep a look out for me, too.
