  • What's normal? When you ask about christianity as a whole, you are making the assumption that all the different sects of christianity are identical. Catholisism has the reputation for being the most reserved when it comes to sex and others are not quite as controlling. But to answer your question, no, there is nothing in the bible that says it is sinful to enjoy a varied sex life.
  • I've never heard that the Bible says anything about oral sex at all. As to sodomy, well there are some passages and verses...I would say that it depends on the translation and your interpretation what conclusion you might come to. Two of the most famous refer to Sodom and Gommorah, and Noah and one of his sons. In both, the "obvious" conclusion is that God hates sodomy. Closer study reveals that there was other things going on in both cases. (I haven't gotten to the intense study part yet.) In Sodom and Gommorah, rape and murder were so common as to be very accepted behaviour. In Noah's case, his son committed incest and (if you think about it) rape. "Christianity", though, has its own sets of rules, and a lot of christians would tell you point blank that sodomy is a horrible, unforgiveable sin. Whether they are right or wrong...I couldn't tell you.
  • It would depend on your particular faith, I suppose. In the Catholic church, any sexual act outside of intercourse that is done simply for pleasure is forbidden. Now, you may engage in oral sex as foreplay if the eventual outcome is to be intercourse, but engaging in oral sex in and of itself is forbidden. Sodomy is a big no-no!! Peace to all.
  • Sodomy IS oral or anal sex or ANY unnatural sex. This is the definition given in the Merriman Webster's dictionary. Therefore, both oral and anal sex are forbidden according to scripture which forbids sodomy. To simply say that the bible does not forbid these acts SPECIFICALLY is STUPID !!!!!!!!! The bible does not specify every single sin in detail !!! For example, no one would argue that having sex with a minor is sinful, but the bible does not specifically "FORBID" it !!! Please stop trying to justify your sinful and degrading behavior !! Are bodies are the temple of God, and are to be treated with respect.
  • The only specific reference to forbidden sex deal with incestuous relationships, homosexual relationships and sex during a woman's period (part of Old Testament law). There are many folks out there who numbly say that only sex which will lead to procreation is valid. I would have to ask them the following: Is sex that occurs outside the "ovulation window" then sinful? How about sex involving a menopausal woman or a woman who has undergone a hysterectomy? In Romans chapter 1, the Apostle Paul, outlines the sin of homosexuality. How it differs from the coverage of the subject found in the Old Testament is in terms of the punishment that God expects other people to exact (Israel to be precise) on those who break that law. In Romans, it is brought in for dishonorable mention-a symptom of the broader sinful condition of humanity. In that mention of "unnatural acts", only men with men and women with women is specifically outlined. Also, interestingly, Paul prefaces his comments on "homosexual acts" with words concerning the "common knowledge of God" which makes all men responsible for sin. This natural knowledge will lend itself to an awareness of "a" God, but more important to the context, a knowledge of one's breaking of one's own moral code, even in the absence of teaching. Does it naturally occur to humans that they should not murder? (Yes) Steal another man's wife? (Yes) Steal his goods?(Yes) Any balking at this notion and you'll have to reckon with the fact that governments were formed by the heathen nations, and these governments punished evildoers. Why? How did they know to do this? Would it naturally occur to a man or woman not to engage in (name your particular act here) if it feels good? I would say no. Lastly, and this was already mentioned: The Apostle Paul, in the epistle to the Hebrews (who previously had to live with these laws), clearly says that marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled. The choice of the word "defile" (to make unclean)is very important here. Uncleaness was the condition in which a Jew found himself had he run afoul, even with his wife. We've been relieved of these things. Husband and wife? Have fun.
  • The Bible very clearly takes a stand against some things...adultery, lying, theft, murder and the like. In order to come up with anything more, one must rely on either an "interpretation" or one of the "old laws"...many of which we have absolutely no problem in ignoring such as those that have to do with dietary restrictions. The Bible is clearly against rape and has specific passages where people (the Sodomites for instance) are punished harshly for their crimes. These crimes aren't elucidated as sodomy, although they do threaten to commit homosexual rape against some strangers who happen to be angels in disguise. God judges us and our intents. I think (and of course, that is simply MY interpretation) that this is what God will use as his measuring stick -- our intents not specific acts for the most part. If our intentions are good, He will be merciful.
  • God intends that sex be a wonderful gift for a married couple. It is a union of their bodies, just as they have been linked mentally, emotionally, and spiritually through marriage (which is what marriage means after all--a "bringing together"). Proverbs 5 18 May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth. 19 A loving doe, a graceful deer- may her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be captivated by her love. WHOA! God doesn't mean for sex to be some mechanical act of reproduction. He says to take pleasure in sex. Look at the word "always" also. This is talking about sex with one person for forever--again, pointing to a single committed relationship.
