Whether cooking in the oven, or in the crockpot, my mom always taught me to braise it first. Then, I like to cut several slits all over the roast and insert slivers of garlic inside. Everyone has their favorite veggies they like to add. I like onions, potatoes, carrots, sometimes some celery and some beef broth. A little black pepper and some Mrs. Dash or sometimes some garlic pepper always adds some good flavor as well.

I marinate it over night before putting into the crock pot. MARINADE FOR BEEF ROAST 1 (6-7 lb.) sirloin tip roast, cut in slices 1 1/2 c. salad oil 1/4 c. Worcestershire sauce 1/3 c. lemon juice 3/4 c. soy sauce 1/2 c. wine vinegar 1/2 c. parsley flakes 2 tsp. pepper 2 1/4 tsp. salt

Take your marinated roast, pat it dry, then sear all sides in a hot cast-iron pan on the stove. THEN you can transfer it to your crockpot, if you so desire. I like to add some sherry to the braising liquid and sprinkle an envelope of onion soup mix over the roast.

I just use someonions and beef in a mug. To me nothing could make it taste better than that.

Yes, I prefer young cats, the yellow ones are tastier and more tender, a certain weight and I always make sure that they belong to a neighbor, house cats are more flavorful than strays

I add a package of onion soup mix, a can of cream of mushroom and 16 to 20 oz of pepsi or coke, not diet.

Yes, first sear the roast in a frying pan with garlic powder and any other herbs you like. Searing (frying the exterior of a roast to seal in the juices) makes the roast more moist. Also, you can use an organic beef broth with low sodium content to cook it in in the crockpot. If it is a poor cut of beef, boil more slowly all day. Throw in your potatoes and veggies an hour before serving. This is the best dish for those of us who work, but still feel a good meal is best for our families. Also, bay leaves are wonderful, but remove them before serving. If you don't want to use garlic powder (notice I said powder, not garlic salt), use whole unpeeled cloves of garlic, and as with the bay leaves, remove before serving.
