My HOA lets a resident use the clubhouse for once-a-month political movies where they solicit donations for the particular political party. Can our Board state they cannot use this room if they ask for donations because another resident objects?

    If all residents have the equal ability to utilize the clubhouse, then I don't think the HOA can say what they can and can't use it for, as long as they are following the rules, not causing damage and cleaning up after themselves. I think the HOA would be even more disinclined to say someone can't hold political meetings there for fear that they would be sued for infringing on someone's first amendment rights.

    When you say the HOA allows the use, it is usually the board that makes the decision so you might have answered your own question. But your HOA rules might have the specific rules under which the clubhouse can be "rented" out.
