  • I could do both if needed.Having a garden is a good idea for there would be no GMO's ,pesticides in the fruits and vegetables. Also with home baked bread,I could eliminate the salt for I use no salt in my food thus have to cook from scratch, and use little processed foods that are filled with salt.
  • Yes, I know all that....but I would also need a property in order to have a garden. I bake my own bread already for a long time.
  • No because I don't eat vegetables and no because i don't eat bread, but I would be really pleased about being able to go back to my local butcher, green grocers and village farm shop which have all suffered because of big supermarkets. I try to use them now but sometimes for convenience and cost of getting to them I use the supermarket.
  • I have no clue, but I guess your assuming we have gas for the stove to bake. How can we grow when we find out that a majority of groundwater is contaminated.
  • Sure do. Have done it before. Just get that old sourdough mixture started!
  • I would love to do that. We would need more room for a garden though...we've had wonderful gardens in the past. I already bake lots of breads we eat. I'll just fire up the old bread machine and get rolling! Nice Question!!
  • Yes, and raise animals for dairy or meat. I've done the homesteading/pioneering thing, back to nature way of living for more than half my life. We used to grow most of what we ate and I always made everything from scratch, including all our baked goods, breads, bagels, cookies, even milk and cheese we made at home.
  • Yes to both, though as gardens take time to grow and one might not always have an oven, or similar appliance, having a good store of ready to eat foods is a good idea. Indeed, in something like a nuclear exchange, a room full of dry and canned goods might be worth more than an acre of land.
  • I am beginning to think that I might need to go back to the days of organizing community gardens, here in the city. I did that back 40 years ago. It's time to do it again, isn't it?
  • Yes, I do. I have an emergency cabinet fully stocked with food and water. I also know how to bargain, exchange and share, all of which can come in handy in tough times.
  • Yup, sure do. But don't worry, President Obama will magically fix EVERYTHING. (cough cough wheeze choke)
  • Nope. Haven't got a clue how to do any of that stuff. If industrial society were to collapse, I'm gonna die.
