  • Good question. I truly do not know. The current system takes peoople who may have had one brush with the law and almost always turns them into career criminals. It's clear it is not succeeding. Perhaps we should look at failures and successes of other systems around the world to discover what works.
  • Lower the bar for crimes carrying the death penalty. : )
  • In the first instance of crime really try to help the person involved. Set up more re-hab facilities and legalise prostitution (i don't know if it is in the US), a few more psychiatric health services should also be avialable. ;0)
  • I believe the reasons people commit crimes are as varied as the individuals committing those crimes. Certainly a revamping of our archaic criminal justice system and ridiculous laws would help. The short answer is education not incarceration.
  • An intensive eduaction program for women who were the victims of domestic abuse while growing up. If they are given the knowledge that they don't have to be attracted to or settle for abusive boyfirends. That way the 'abusive' gene or environment won't get passed on to her children... thus breaking the cycle of violence.
