If Americans are so pro-life for a human embryo, why is the death penalty not abolished?

Because those who claim to be pro-life don't do it out of humanitarian reasons for, rather, for religion. They are also the ones that support and condone war & the ensuing loss of innocent lives everywhere. That, in essence, is an American for you, backwards and upsidedown to say the least

an unborn child is innocent -- those who are given the death penalty are far from it. In fact they take lives themselves -- the lives of many other innocents. If you can't see the difference, there is no hope for you.

There is no rational explanation for this. The Christian Righties veer off on a tangent with "Embryos don't commit murder," as if that somehow justified killing convicted felons. It doesn't. The contradiction is blatant: It's OK to kill a felon, but it's not OK to abort a fetus.
