dont know, but they are probably the same kinda people who have 5 kids that they cant take care of.
-
not most but alot of them do....they keep them for a few months or a few years and then give them up. Alot of the time people dont know the responsibility it is to take care of a dog. They arent cheap to take care of and people then see how they dont have time either for them.

Don't know about the 2 months part but a lot of people take animals when they are babies and they are cute and cuddly but then when they grow up and start requiring medical care, shots, etc. these people are no longer interested in caring for them. Pets become a toy that they play with till something better comes along..People take them without being willing to accept that they are a lifetime responsbility and some do live 15 years..that's a lot of vet care, food, love, etc.. Some people just don't take that into consideration and some don't care.

It's usually for medical or behavioural reasons, although a lot of so-called bad behaviour is actually the result of the owners not knowing how to train and control their dogs in the first place.
-
Thats terrible... I'm keeping my babies till they keel over
-
Short-minded and all about instant gratification without thinking of the long term investment, responsibility, and commitment that it truly means to be a good pet owner.
-
Because they didn't think and can't handle the responsibility.
-
no patience or training skills

"Most people" don't. "Most people" keep their dogs for most, if not all, of that dog's life. Those who do what you're suggesting want to have a dog, but don't really want to take the time to train them, for the most part. They may have problems with them barking, tearing things up, making messes, relieving themselves indoors, etc. They may find they're allergic. They may find they have to move, and where they're going doesn't take pets, or they can't afford the extra deposit/rent. Remember that MOST people would never do that.

Many people don't understand the commitment and work involved in adopting any kind of dog. It can be overwhelming. * From your other questions, I know you have a pit bull pup. They are very challenging and demanding because they are smart and they need to be kept busy all the time. They need lots of tough, fun toys to chew and play with. They need lots of attention, and they need firm, knowledgeable training. If you are not experienced in raising and training dogs, I highly recommend you get some help with your puppy. Take him to obedience classes early to get him socialized and used to you being the leader of the pack. If you don't establish this through quiet confidence and by showing your puppy that you are in control and know what to do, he will assume no one is in charge. Then he will want to be in charge! * Look up Cesar Milan's DVDs and books. They are excellent for helping people to understand dog psychology and behavior. * So, anyway, that's why people often give up right away. They don't know what they are getting themselves into, and they don't know how to handle the situation once they are in it.

Simply because when the summer holiday arrives most parents without brain will purchase a puppy for their kids to play with, but they dont think ahead of what it bring to raise a dog...puppy quickly grows, become to big, more active, and out of control..and as the holidays are coming to the end, puppy means for them just an extra unnecesery load on their shoulders to be taking care off...so they dump it into the shelter..never actually known, what it feels like for the poor innocent animal, which has no clue why his pack gave him up...sad

The biggest reason is the inability to train up the dogs right. They come back from work to find the couches chewed up. The owner gets angry and hits the dog. It seekd like the dog will never learn! But it takes patience and it;s important to understnad the dog, especially if it is a puppy. You can't expect it to learn right away. Another HUGE factor is potty-training. The owner simply cannot put up with the dog qoing to the bathroom everywhere. Again, the dog doesn't learn right away and it take diligence to train up a dog right.
