Do police departments have their own electronic surveillance teams? Are they only in departments for large metropolitan or do medium sized departments or sheriffs offices have them as well? What about digital forensics teams?

Yes the larger departments do have a cyber crime division. Sense they are mostly criminal oriented they spend most of their time doing teen girl bate and snitch activities. They are fun to work for as a civilian. Yes digital forensics, such as when they confiscate computers from criminals. Again civilian specialists not uniformed officers. They also have forensic mapping specialists, an excellent internship. Most of these jobs require a decent amount of college. Most Police Departments only require an associates degree to be a beat cop.
