I wish it were, but only minor things can we usually forget over time. The rest is there somewhere and could pop out any time. :) The mind is so marvelous that way. An infinite hard drive of useful and useless information and memories!

I'm sure through hypnosis or with some drugs or other medical help it could be possible to suppress these memories, but they will still be there subconsciously. I wouldn't want to forget these things if I were you though, no matter how bad they are. It's the good things along with the bad things that make us who we are, and you would be losing a part of yourself. Also, you could be dooming yourself to relive some of those things that were so bad because you no longer have the memories of it happening the first time as a warning.

We can definately use tricks to improve our memories. However I have never heard of any tricks that make us forget.

Hah! I only wish! Do you have any idea how many times I think to myself how awesome it would be if we could invent a machine to do just that, wipe out bad memories and leave us with the good ones only? The world would probably be a much, much better, happier, safer and kinder place too

not only is it possible, it's likely..studies have shown people choose to believe what they want to believe and have been known to alter memories to such a degree in their heads that even though the event is false or the details fo it are, they could pas a lie detector..in other tests people were exposed to an event and sometime later asked about details fo the event..many had different recollections of the event and details....the mind is not as accurate or detailed as we would like to believe, especially when it comes to remembering and memories.

If you could invent a pill to do just that, you'd be a billionaire overnight.
