Wands, yes, to direct power and harness certain energies. Broomsticks can be used, but not in the sense of riding on them and flying around with a pointy hat. Please note I've learned this only by talking with other Wiccans, and am not Wiccan myself. I'm sure it also depends on the individual Wiccan in question.

Wands can be used to focus and direct energy and brooms can be used to symbolically 'sweep' the area clean of negative energies before beginning your ritual. Its a matter of belief and preference though on whether or not you use them.

Ritual tools are symbols, and keys. A wand does focus energy, but once you've used one, the same effect can be reproduced from memory, without the tool. It's still nice to have the proper tools... Shows commitment, even if only to yourself. Besides, it's easier to produce a specific effect with the proper tool than it is to work freehand.

Broom sticks was a symbol made by the those christian Europeans in the past. According to them women weren't suppose to enjoy s*x only men. So is a women enjoyed s*x then she was considered a witch. So since witches enjoyed s*x they symbolized it with her riding a broom. It symbolized are riding ----you know what--

As mentioned in other answers yes wands are used to channel energy, crystals are also used, or even crystal wands for that matter, although a wand is not mandatory to channel energy. The ritual dagger or Athame' can also fulfill this purpose. Broomsticks, well the short answer is no, wiccans don't ride broomsticks in the sense of Harry Potter, but they do ride them like a hobby horse for some rites. Though in actuality the broom is a device used to conceal the nature of what is really a phallic staff, used in pagan fertility rites. The lore that was passed to me is that the phallic staff was concealed in the beesom broom head to avoid christian persecution, thus allowing wytches to carry the staff openly but concealed in an everyday object. I daresay anyone witnessing a fertility rite in those times would indeed have seen wytches riding broomsticks. Bear in mind most traditional lore has been passed on by word of mouth, and it is hard to know for certain how accurate this is, but this explanation certainly makes sense to me.

I don't bother with wands. Kitchen witchcraft all the way for me. I did jump a broom when I got handfasted 8 years ago (and counting!).

Yes, we use wands (if we want to). No one can 'ride a broomstick' and can't fly (except by airplane) as shown in the movies/TV shows. Besoms are used in ritual but are not ridden.
