Question

Help answer this question below.

I have a 36-inch Toshiba TV, built in 1999, model # 36A40. It has vertical collapse. Can anyone tell me which component to replace on the board to repair this? I don't know which component is the vertical stabilizer. Horizontal white line across screen.

Your problem is probably the vertical deflection amplifier or the picture-tube itself. The deflection amplifier won't be on the main board, it will be close to the stem of the CRT. If you can't recognize it then I wouldn't suggest trying to fix it on your own. Get a professional to do it.

    Hope this helps.
