  • Depends on the animal. Intelligence varies in animals just as it does in humans. Ive met people who I doubt can recognize that its their own reflection in a mirror.
  • My dog flexes in the mirror.
  • I have a cat that's about 4 yrs old. I believe he only really noticed that it was him in the mirror about 3-4 months ago. That was when I noticed him watching me in the mirror.
  • No, neither will monkeys. Chimps will!
  • Darn good question and I don't know for sure. I've seen my cat hiss at herself when she saw her reflection in the mirror. Then she hissed even louder and made her fur stand on end when she realized the other cat(in the mirror) was hissing back at her. Then again, maybe she did it just to see how tough she looked to other cats. I do know that when she was a kitten, we had put a mirror at floor level leaning up against the wall and she spent countless hours looking for that other cat. She'd go in between the mirror and the wall, come out the other side, see herself and jump up in the air spitting and growling.
  • My dog smiles at the mirror & says 2 himself! I sure am an ugly beast.
