When the demand is high enough and the market is desperate, all other considerations will be secondary. So, YES, we will eventually drill in ANWAR and do it as cleanly as possible.

If it can be proven that doing so will actually make enough of a difference to justify the cost (financial AND ecological). How much oil is up there? How long would those reserves supply our demand?

Eventually the US will be forced to use oil from Alaska , they can minimise the damage but I am afraid it is inevitable

I believe Alaska should be a legacy for future generations,therefore no more drilling etc. Valdez oil spill was already a disaster,do we need to spill more oil to disrupt more nature or do we just don't care about our environment.

Humans are going to have to stop their dependency on oil extremely soon anyway. Its not optional. Either quit using oil or die. Either way its not cost effective and not worth the risks.

What has any oil drilling not destroyed? There are drawbacks to ANY plan for progress. What is your solution?
