No. If I owned a $2500 handbag and wanted to carry it with me, I would do so, regardless of the current economic situation. Furthermore, it's highly unlikely that the average person would even know that it was such an expensive item.

With you and me it would be certainly an inappropriate thing to do. But there are those who come within circles where a $2500 handbag is just taken for granted. In those circles it would be inappropriate to carry a $25 handbag.

If you can afford to carry one, carry it. As for myself, I would much rather carry around a $5 handbag with 2500.00 inside it.

No. I wouldn't call it inappropriate especially if I needed a handbag. I would call it tacky though.
