Remember that most of the Japanese people today look back at the actions of the Japanese army during WW2 with revulsion. The actions were not typical of the Japanese then or now.

Try your best to, in your mind, set aside what happened to your grandfather... that was wartime. That is not Japanese culture. Learn about Japanese culture separate from wartime. It is a whole other world. The Japanese people condemn what happened back then. I could hate Germany because some of my family were killed in the Holocaust but I choose to not. The German people condemn what happened back then too. I could hate various EU cultures and peoples for ongoing abuses of my people but I choose to not (that second bit sometimes takes conscious work on my effort but it is worth it).

I bet some of your own people have done bad things from time to time also, but you don't hate your next door neighbor because of that. It's kind of far fetched to hate someone today because of something that happened way before you were even born. My ancestors survived the Walk of Tears too, but I still love the flag of the United States and the Republic for which it stands.

Realize that the vast majority of those living today had little to nothing to do with WWII, other than MAYBE being born from parents in that time period, and most are probably children of THOSE children. And also realize that it's not very intelligent to hate a whole group of people (including nations, religions, etc.) because of the actions of a single one, or even a few.
