  • People do. But staying alive is more important than being efficient.
  • Since you are a friend I won't dr you or flag it as nonsense but that is one stupid question! I do hope that you were being fascetious. I would hate to think that you are that mentally deficient.
  • But they don't hurt as much as when you crash because you weren't paying attention. :-)
  • They do, but I personally don't want to die in an accident because someone had a phone plastered to their ear and forgot they were driving..:)
  • How efficient is having your car or yourself incapacitated?
  • There are too many bad drivers out there that drive even more dangerously when they have a cell phone to their ear. Less efficient or not, some people have no business using them while driving.
  • What efficiency would that be? Do you mean the most efficient way to rid the world of excess people?
  • Actually, sometimes it is more efficient: If you need to talk to someone and you need to get somewhere at the same time. If the problem is that the person is only driving with one hand, then why isn't it illegal to drive with one hand? If the problem is that talking to someone is distracting, then why don't they make it illegal to talk to your passengers? If it's the combination of the two, then why isn't it illegal for me to drive around holding a gatorade bottle to my ear, and talk to my passenger? Just some food for thought.
  • I'm a motorcyclist. I hope I never have the misfortune to be on the same stretch of road as you.
  • It is not illegal to use a handsfree kit, get one use it. This is how we cope in the UK. It is inefficient for the healthcare system to deal with all the extra casualties caused by people not concentrating on using both hands to drive properly.
  • better safe than sorry
  • Absolute bull. They stop you taking your eyes and your mind off the road. If I had my way people who even have the phone switched on in the car would be prosecuted.
  • tell them what... when speedlimits are increased so driving actualy takes concentration, then I'll stop talking on the phone while driving, until I am allowed to reach my destination in a timely manner I need to multitask
  • Studies have shown that driving while phoning is about like driving drunk. If the thing that became bad was the phoning, no worries, but when you phone your driving becomes bad. Stop doing that. Just last year we had a bicylist run over -- OUT IN THE COUNTRY. It's not like the driver had a lot of distractions. You're going to kill someone someday, and, Buddy, that's not efficiency.
  • Running someone over because you're distracted on the phone hurts efficiency even more.
  • Efficiant drivers can talk and drive at the same time. Unfortunately most drivers aren't like that, and are unable to multitask. What they should do is have test you would need to be able to pass which would allow you to talk and drive.
  • Because they probably do realize that being dead hurts efficiency, too.
  • There's a fine line between knowing and caring.
  • Well all of us here in the United States were sold the idea that we can use a "MOBILE PHONE" while mobile. If you remember back, there used to be old time mobile phones in the day MTS and IMTS and Cellular mobile phones came along with new more effecient technology to make "MOBILE PHONES" do more and better nationwide coverge. So, what does the State and Local Governments want out of us ? The FCC calls it a "Mobile Phone Service" , Maybe it is like cigaretts, once the State and Local goverments get the tax money right, then using a Mobile Phone will be right .
