  • As an english lady, I would say that you are correct, "bloody" is not strictly swearing but is not proper to use in conversation. An object covered in blood would be referred to as "blood-soaked".
  • Bloody isn't really swearing. It is to my mum, but that's her. I'd say 'it's got blood all over it'.
  • there is a difference between saying: "Look there is a bloody corpse", and "Look there is a bloody corpse" - when one wants to use "bloody" in the sort of swearing sense, there is a slight change in tone of voice - slightly more venom in the word - so it is easy to tell the difference.
