If the wages of sin is death, why do most Christians believe in eternal torment?

If I understand the Bible correctly, God created earthly death because Adam & Eve sinned. Eternal torment (Hell) is the result of not being Saved at some point during your life here on Earth. In other words, because of sin, we only have a limited amount of time to become Saved. Once we have died it is too late.

LOL Your inability to comprehend scripture is amazing. I would contend that the vast majority of all Christians do NOT beleive anything of the sort! The "eternal torment" is being denied a heavenly reward, NOT that the sinner will be tortured for eternity. Buy a clue.
