Why is it that in the UK almost every single house is made out of bricks (mainly red brick) but more houses overall across the world are made of wood? Even in richer or colder countries than the UK there are a lot of wooden houses.

Just a guess here, but I would suggest that it is because the resources for making bricks are close by and plentiful, therefore cheaper and more practical.
