  • They have 17 kids and the one on the way was the 18th child. They can afford them! And can take good care of them!So congrats to them.
  • No. I think it would be selfish if they couldn't support them, but they seem like they're doing fine.
  • This is a hard question but yes I do.The older children are built in babysitters (not that I dont believe a family should help each other)but really what a strain for any kind of attention or love.
  • Nope. Those kids are loved and have an excellent value system. Most people can't raise 1 child to be as respectful as their 17.
  • No, I do not think they are selfish. The family is well provided for and they all appear to be very happy. Good for them!
  • If they are not on welfare and are raising them with love and care...absolutely not, not selfish at all. Where could anyone get "selfish" out of that, might I ask?
  • I think they are being EXTREMELY selfish! Just because they can afford to handle such a HUGE LITTER does not mean they SHOULD!!! By overproducing to such an extreme degree, the Duggars are putting an outrageously GIGANTIC carbon footprint on the world. And each one of the children will probably produce another HUGE family!! There is a limited supply of natural resources to go around on planet Earth, and we are speedily running out of many of them, or haven't they heard? Whatever happened to the concept of ZERO POPULATION GROWTH???
  • No, they have a nice clean house, everyone sems to help out. Although, I don't believe older children should babysit, they didn't have the kids. They also look like they can afford them, and they must make money from the show. I just can't see how they can be soooo organized. More power to em!
  • I'm in no position to judge anyone but personally, I wouldn't do it
  • Absolutely. They rely on the older children to babysit, and it's impossible for the children to get any real individualised attention with so many siblings to compete with. It really is more like an institution than a family, supplying the Church with more sheeple. There were less children in my high school classes than in that family!
  • What the hell is duggar?
  • No. Selfish is having 1 child when you have no means of support and/or a committed partner to help raise that child.
  • I don't find them Selfish at all. They have 17 respectable children. We are not paying for them. They seem to be a good loving family. I find nothing wrong with it. If the mom and dad can handle this then more power to them. *I couldn't never raise 17 and one on the way* There are alot of selfish parents out there, they may only have one and the kid/s are disrespectful. I say if they are good citizens and contribute to the world in a positive matter, It is NONE of our business.
  • Selfish? Try sacrificial! How can raising a large family be construed as selfish? The more kids you have, the less time and stuff you personally get to have to yourself. I bet the parents in that household get less than twenty minutes of leisure time every day. But they have raised up a large group of people who show every sign of growing into responsible, productive, and compassionate adults. The Duggars have figured out how to afford it financially, handle it emotionally, and parent with discipline but love. I admire them and applaud them, as I do ANY parent who can and does love and care for their kid.
  • What's selfish about it? They seem to be financially, morally, and physically capable of raising and supporting 18 children. I'd much rather see that than some irresponsible teenagers having ONE child.
