Vulgarity bothers me more than speech patterns. I think when you hang out with people you pick up their particular speech patterns and in that case it would be difficult to break out of them. Saying words such as "like" tends to undercut the point someone is trying to make, though. It's hard to take someone seriously who is, like, always saying things like, well like you know things like like. :)
