The mommy should be fed puppy formula kibble throughout her pregnancy and lactation. She should also be given daily calcium supplements throughout this same period. After whelping, the pups should feed primarily on their mother’s milk for the first 3 weeks of life. If you notice a pup not getting enough nursing time, supplement its feeding with a specially formulated mother’s milk replacement, like Esbilac. Also, many veterinarians are advocating the use of nutritional supplements for joints such as Cosequin and Glycoflex. Some studies have shown that these supplements may help treat arthritic conditions. These can be added to your doggie mommy's diet during pregnancy to help with pain and more degrading of the hip sockets. After she has this litter, yes she should be spayed. This will keep the dysplasia from becoming worse or needing painful surgeries in the future. Hope this helps, good luck and happy welping!!!

if you knew she had HD, you should have had her spayed right away - she should not be put through a pregnancy. that being said -spay her as soon as it is safe once the pups arrive. HD is genetic, and all of her pups will need to be spayed and NEVER bred. make sure you tell potential owners this.
