Peer pressure. And marketing from the tobacco companies. No one intentionally decides to poison themselves on their own.

As a kid, smoking looked cool. It was part of adolescence-doing bad things had sex appeal. When you're a kid, you are so healthy smoking doesn't bother you. It's when you're older and hooked that it's a problem.
