  • I can't be sure, but if you can't find out from Renault, you can try to install a new one and see if it works; if it backfire when you try to start the valves are bent and/or the head is cracked. Most small engines are interference engines, so the odds aren't in your favor. Is there anywhere you can buy a repair manual.   • The engine in the Clio is interference. You most likely bent a few valves. Worst case scenario you'd need new valves, cylinder bore, and new pistons.
