I would tend to agree. Is there such a thing as high-quality fake ivory?

Disagree. The solution is to shoot them on site along with the rangers that aid and abet them

disagree. I can see the logic behind the idea but it may have some unintended results. It may actually drive up the demand for real ivory. The flooding of the market with fake Prada, Gucci and other designer clothing, handbags, watches etc has not lessened the demand for them. In fact the abundance of these fakes in urban areas has made the desire to have the real deal stronger. The ivory trade is a relatively small but heinous business. Flooding the market may create a resurgence in people wanting the look of ivory and poachers are certain to charge a premium for getting them the real thing no matter how good the fakes look.

I doubt that they could create fake ivory good enough to fool buyers. It is a good idea, though. If they could, that might work. That would drop the prices for ivory and the doubt it would create in the consumer would lessen the value even more.
