Only the single people who think that they are not a whole person by themselves. I think sometimes you can be very lonely even when in a relationship as well. So i guess my answer is generally no, singles are not lonelier than couples.

Cheese is always considered a single. The package says "Singles" on them.

Loneliness has little to do with the number of people surrounding you. Loneliness is inside, as is contentment.
-
Not necessarily. Couples that are alienated from one another are probably much lonelier than single people who are happy with themselves.

I think your comparison is stupid but . . . DUHHHHH!!! Of course single people on AVERAGE are more likely to feel lonely.

Maybe. Can't say I've ever been lonely. After a few days of the holidays visiting my extended family I have usually had all the family togatherness I can stand. And lots of time at work the guys I talk to say they are glad to come to work to get away from all the hell being raised at home over one thing or another. I'm sure if it was just a couple it would be ok but it usually is the couple, her family, your family, kids, grandkids, her stupid friends, your stupid friends, dogs, TV,phone, stupid barking dogs and people mowing grass on Sunday morning etc. Glad to get back to myself and a little peace.
