After interpreting the Witches' Prophesy to suit his own desires, Macbeth embarked upon a program to make himself King and eliminate anyone (and family) who would threaten his ambitions.
It would be impossible to separate his tyranny and his murders, as they were both part of The Plan.
Yes, he felt bad about it, and suffered. But he didn't repent or cease his horrible behavior. Macbeth, of anyone, deserved to have his head flung from the ramparts.
