  • Actually, that date signifies a change in times or eras, not necessarily destruction.
  • Yes, I'm planning a going away party. Wanna come? Tinfoil hats are optional
  • Yes I am. I'll remember to wear my sunglasses and sunscreen.
  • Yay, 5th son wooo hooo.
  • yay! I sure am!
  • ecstatic!!!
  • The Millenium was a flop (no world end), so I'm not holding my breath for 2012 :o)
  • sure am :)
  • that be intresting
  • Yes, I can't wait. Especially since this will all happen when the northern hemisphere is experiencing shortened days. I hope that I get over Seasonal Affected Disorder! Maybe it'll be easier to grow stuff in my garden, and get a nice, even suntan. Will the Mayan and Aztec people be throwing a big concert then to celebrate? Can we expect mariachi bands and Lila Downs? How about pinatas full of candy? "Football" in stadiums with real killing? Bloodbaths on the avenue! Oh, how divine! Do you think we should start planning our parties now? Ooooooh, I have an idea! Maybe we should find a good candidate and run him or her for president that year (voting nov 4 2012) and have them run on the Helios platform. Gimmicky tie-ins are SOOOO helpful when planning such a major event.
  • It's the 21st...not the 23rd. If you're going to try and freak people out, at least get the date right.
  • I have filed copyrights for a survival society LOL I WANNA MAKE MONEY OFF THIS THING!!
  • I reckon it will be an interesting day one way or another........ either all sorts of stuff will happen (chances are i'm pretty safe in in aus, fingers crossed :P)..... or nothing weill happen and there will be a bunch of people who give up on prophercies altogether.... but even with all the 21st/23rd debate going on here - who says the calculations have been made properly at all? mistakes can be made.....
  • I'm taking bets! Right now I'm poised to win quite a bit when absolutely nothing happens.
  • I can't wait!
  • right. why should i believe those civilizations predictions when they werent even successful at predicting their own demise and averting disaster?
  • hmmm let me think about this... NO. I dont believe this prophecy to be true but even if i did why wouldi be excited to die?
  • Can't wait! I hope someone is throwing a good party to await the end of the world in style
  • I'm so excited I can't go to sleep fast enough.
  • I can't wait for magic to arrive ^.^
  • Scholars can't agree on the date, nor can they agree on the significance of the end of the Mayan calendar. So what makes you think that some delusional conspiracy theorist, high on drugs, is able to predict with even a tiny degree of accuracy the likelihood of the sun coming up in the morning? For all of the whack jobs that follow this ignorant blather, I always like to point out this far more real threat ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/99942_Apophis And here are the odds: the impact probability for April 13, 2036, was calculated as 1 in 45,000. An additional impact date in 2037 was also identified; the impact probability for that encounter was calculated as 1 in 12.3 million. There is still time to book a flight on the mothership. Give my regards to Do. ;-)
  • I am still waiting for the computer meltdown that was scheduled for January 1, 00 (I mean, 2000). Of course, those of us who live in reality know that the Mayan calendar is just that, a calendar. The Mayans tracked many celestial movements. Just as we know the sun will rise and fall each day through predictable planetary movements, the Mayans tracked even more. So what happens on the Winter Solstice in 2012? Well, the "sun conjuncts the intersection of the Milky Way and the plane of the ecliptic." Just as we know that each month the earth will align with the sun and moon making a "full moon," or each day the earth will rotate causing day and night (on most of the planet anyway), the Mayans felt it important to track many other celestial movements. Thus, saying that the end of the world is supposed to be in 2012 is as logical as saying that the end of the world is going to be December 31, 2008 simply because the calendar on your wall ends on that date. Of course, most of us simply buy a new calendar each year because we know that it simply reflects cycles.
  • Yeah, excited... that's the word.
  • should be interesting... what will we do if the world doesn't end?
