How I feel about them is based entirely on what I think about the people watching the cameras. If they are trustworthy, I think the cameras are good and help keep us secure. The problem is we do not know who is watching on the other side.

I am, for the most part, paranoid about security cameras. I hate feeling like I am being watched all of the time, it freaks me out. I seriously can't act normal comfortably when I know there are cameras everywhere watching me. I know they're not going to come arrest me for anything unless I am doing something I ought not be doing, but I hate being recorded. I mean, even small video cameras make me uncomfortable unless I give my permission to be taped. My sister has one of those little kid cameras and *that* even makes me paranoid. I don't know why, it's a stupid fear I have, and I guess the intention is good, but I hate that feeling that someone can see me any given moment and replay it or pass it on or anything like that. Ick.

they are a good thing for security reasons obviously, but they make people feel like they are being watched all the time. i dont agree with having them in bathrooms though that is just ridiculous.
-
If people acted responsibly, they wouldn't be needed. As in: character is what you do when no one is watching. Too many people are low-lifes, such as people who vandalize bathrooms with graffiti or worse.

All this security is making me very insecure.

Who knew it would take 20 years for 1984 to become true! George Orwell had better predicting powers than Nostradamous. What year will Clockwork Orange come to pass?

school bathrooms... eww one step from some really weird child porn. my school has no cameras thank god
-
a lot of the cameras arent even attached to recording devices. they just make you think they are recording. they are like a scarecrow. you get scared just from looking aat it. can you imagine how many people would be needed to monitor all those cameras? and the ones that do record no one watches unless something happens to make them want to review a time sequence.

More secure.
-
that sounds weird but it's mostly for catching kids who skip class
-
That's what we're willing to do these days, trade away a little bit of our freedom for the illusion of security.
-
It reminds me of something that Benjamin Franklin said once: (paraphrasing) Those that would give up liberty for security deserve neither liberty nor security.
-
Certainly no more "secure"! ;-)
