Rather than eliminating tasers, as many people are demanding, why don't police forces just reduce the voltage used?

Because that would make the taser ineffective. Voltage does not kill. It is amperage that is deadly to humans. The only time people die from tasers is when they had some abnormality that was affected by the voltage. However, a lower voltage would not prevent those deaths (unless you made it so low that the taser would be ineffective). Although, a better solution would be for people to not resist arrest, which would take care of the problem altogether.

because lowering the voltage doesn't stop the misuse by cops! in fact if rendered a little less deadly it might prompt cops to use them even more! I've always been a firm believer that force and violence beget violence. I've seen a lot of vids of misuse and extreme unwarranted force by cops..I have cops in my family..some are cool and some are egotistical jerks..sure cops need tools to defend themselves with but it seems lately a lot of them have stopped trying to uphold peace and order and use force and manipulation to enforce their will...dominance is not a way to peace! They are public servants to the people..NOT our keepers!
