What does it mean when someone tells you that your "real"? (Besides the obvious answer of not being fake).

They don't know what they're tallking about. Nothing is real or fake. Things are the way they are without anything else to compare to, so how can you be sure you're real or fake? Your five senses may lead you to believe you're real but any advanced computer synthesis of this world could also lead you to believe it's the real thing.

i beleive the adjective 'real' is a compliment to the person it is said to as it means you are an honest, clear and factual person who does not beat aroud the bush. merry xmas

I have been described as 'real'. I think that sometimes I am so real that folks are just shocked. You will get honesty, candor and truth from me in a frank and straighforward way. I am not good at hiding my feelings.

You don't hide who you truly are inside by wearing "society's acceptable mask". It could mean you are you and therefore unique to complimenter. Either way its a good thing to be called in my book. :)
