  • Very interesting article; While I am inclined to take anything a Harvard study suggests, seriously - I must say that I think this "collective spreading" of happiness only works for some people. It says: "The study suggests that the happiest people are those at the center of a social network, Fowler said, comparing this contagion of emotions to catching a sexually transmitted infection." However, a criticism which I myself was thinking of, which was also mentioned in the article, is: "Fletcher and his co-author...an economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, suggested that the happiness study could be biased because happy people are often friends and that their good moods are not necessarily influenced by each other." Meaning, this may be somewhat true, but not true for all people. I myself, as an example, hate being in large social crowds such as parties, and am happier when I have some space.
  • Yes..it was all over the news. How happiness/joy is contagious. If you are happy it spreads to your family members and neighbors and co-workers in significant amounts. That is good to know isn't it? So..just be happy, spread it around and who knows..the world could change! :) ((hugs))
  • Joy comes from relationship. If the relationship is pleasant, yes. If, as is the case in a lot of relationships, one or both of the parties is psychologically warped, I guess it doesn't have to be a pleasant relationship. But, as I stated in my answer to your other question, this is not true joy.
  • I have always believed joy is contagious :)
  • Did your avatar bring you Joy? Come on Rick!!!!
