Most nations didn't lose millions of men, they lost hundreds of thousands. In World War 2 Britain lost 357,116 men in combat. The United States lost 291,557 men in combat Plus the next generations where equaled out and at birth there is a slighly higher number of boys then girls but the boys die more often and sooner. http://www.world-war-2.info/casualties/

The amount of men that were killed in combat were only a couple of tenths of a percent of the male population. This isn't enough to swing the balance of the sexes. The next generation that was born in the baby boom had a similar percentage of males to females as the previous generations.

Actually, the birth rate has no effect on the population that is already born. The ratio of boy babies to girls babies is not affected by the ratio in the adult population. Plus, after the major wars, there was a disproportionately high number of adult females in the population; they usually remained unmarried and pretty much invisible to a casual glance at 'social statistics.' Just because they weren't as visible as a 'baby boom' doesn't mean that they weren't there.
