  • I have usually seen this in male cats. Just have her looked at by the vet that did the surgery to put your mind at ease. Cats do tend to gain weight after being altered. Support the return of the avatar: http://www.answerbag.com/.../111472
  • I have seen this in male and female fixed cats. It is akin to a hernia. Do get it checked out. Sometimes it does not hurt the animal and needs no surgery, however, it could tear and kill the animal. If she is a jumper or climber this may be why it has happened. Good luck.
  • I had a male cat like that - we ended up taking him to the vet when it got big and it was a tumor on his bladder that ultimately lead to our decision to put him down. Please get it checked!
  • Check them out at the vet. I love cats I feel sad when they need help. We had one cat that lived a very health life for 21 years. After I left home it was just unthinkable not to come home and see this cat.
  • My cat has the same thing. It's like extra skin on both sides of her stomach, between her back legs. It makes her look chubby, even though she isn't. She's been seen at the vet many times during her life (never for that, though) and nobody ever mentioned it. They feel her abdomen like they normally do, and everything checks out. You can (and should) ask your vet about anything that concerns you. However, know that it isn't necessarily anything serious.
