  • Once I went to BlockBuster, and they had these little cardboard kind of advertisement/eyecatcher/mobile type things hanging from the ceiling with new promotions and new releases and whatnot on there. I was about 5 or 6 and there was a stool to reach the higher placed movies. I was compelled to get the little dangly things from the ceiling and I fell and my teeth went through my lips, and I had to get several stitches. Also, maybe a year or two before, at Christmas time, I was by the tree for some reason. Maybe looking at presents, I don't know, but I ended up getting distracted and grabbing an ornament. I must've grabbed pretty hard, because it broke and I got shards of glass in my eye. I ended up fine in the end, but I hate when I hear my mom talking about it or anything, because it's horrible to think about. Yeah, I was a stupid, stupid kid, I know. Other than that, I'm sure nothing I have wil compare to some of the answers I imagine others will post.
  • got hit by a pick-up truck.. not fun. flew about 10 feet. :
  • Han many accidents ... but the worst in one hit ... T boned a car that pulled in front of me on my street bike broken leg three broken ribs reconstructive surgery to the right hand ... the hand surgery is still on going which is the worst outcome for me ... as I am an artist and I am right handed ... It should be OK in time so the surgeon has informed me ...
  • constant headaches
  • 2 herniated discs in my neck.
  • I was in a car accident :O I had two paintings in the back seat which proceeding into my skull when I was rear ended. Im know people have come out of accidents much worse but hey, I lost 3 days of memory and it took me about 2 days to get my short term memory back.
  • I stepped on a wood splinter about 4 inches long, and it went deep into my foot. the doctor took it out without anaesthetic and then tested to see if I was allergic to tetanus shots. I came out negative, so he injected me. But I was allergic, and almost died, swelled up like a balloon. I was in hospital for a week.
  • I know this sounds stupid, but it was honestly worse than any physical injury... I had my heart broken. I constantly felt like I was just about to throw up for three straight days, and I didn't eat or drink a single thing. I cried every few minutes and couldn't function. There was nothing that made the pain better. It was at that point that I understood why people do drugs. Second to that, I'd have to say the worst injury was self-inflicted. I cut my wrist and ended up in the ER. The doctor who stitched me up was really nice, and I remember he had the bluest eyes I've ever seen.
  • I was riding my bike and the chain slipped a little, but just enough to send my foot flying off the pedal. My foot went into my front wheel and got caught in the spokes, and when the wheel rolled to the point where my foot hit the forks the wheel locked up and hurt my foot AND sent me flying over the handle bars onto the cement. I ended up with a minor sprain in my left hand (I'm a lefty), scrapes on both elbows and my left hip somehow, and a jamed foot. I didn't need to go to the doctor or anything and wasn't nearly as bad as some of the injuries other people on here have mentioned so I guess I've just been luckey all my life.
  • Working as a chef, went to start cooking on the stove. Wondered why there was an empty copper pan just sitting there. Didnt check the gas was on - didnt occur to me. Someone was slow heating a dry pan for caramel prep, and they forgot. Picked it up, must have been 300 degrees or so. Burned my palm. During the day the burn got deeper and went right to the bone

  • Geez, so many to choose from... The most life-threatening was 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree burns from a scalding at 18 months of age. I was due to die - doc gave me about 2 hours. Mum and Dad took me home, essentially to die in familiar surroundings. I didn't. Since then, there's been a very badly broken ankle, broken arm, broken wrist, chipped wrist, broken ribs, more stitches than I can count, several concussions and a small paper cut (but it stung!!) - all done in separate accidents while rock-climbing, mountain-biking, kicboxing or paragliding. You'd think I'd learn, wouldn't you...
  • I also sprained both ankles at the same time
  • When some one i like and adore and when they do some thing which you never expect. It really hurts and injures me to extreme.

  • a broken nose, Well Mine Probably isnt that bad but it's "the worst injury i've ever had". My Baby's Daddy Sucker Punched Me Cause I took my son out and didnt come home when i said id be home. pretty harsh right? he went to jail and now he's dead.
  • I had a roll over accident with a spooked horse. Broke most of my ribs, lacerated my liver and spleen, and broke my shoulder bone and breast bone... I had two chest tubes due to a collapsed lung, and was on the ventilator for a month... And I had to repeat that entire year of school.

  • Boy !! That's a tough one. I've had my nose broken four times. I've totally ruptured both left biceps tendons and had my bicep roll up into my armpit to be surgically reattached. I've 90'ed my knee the wrong way. I've broken my left arm in two places.I've broken bones in my hand. I've broken nearly every finger at least once. I've broken my leg. I've broken an ankle.I've broken ribs. I've broken toes My jaw has been broken.I've broken my collarbone. I've fractured my skull.I've had more stitches than I care to recall. • A young colt only a few days old stepped on my bare feet (yes, I wasn't wearing shoes but that is another story) and launched himself across the corral from standing on my big toe and front of my foot. He crushed my big toe and broke some other bones along the way. When the doctor was stitching me back up the top of my toe and across the empty nail bed, we were both crying, me because of the pain and him because he was remembering his own same injury and he KNEW the pain I was in. Even under meds, heavy meds, I cried or whimpered for 3-4 days solid. I still fell like crying thinking about it.

  • I herniated a disc in my back by trying to lift a rather heavy desk chair (the kind you see in a lawyer's office). It took two rounds of physical therapy and a lot of painkillers to manage. It's still there, but doesn't hurt anymore.
  • Fractured, sprained and tore all the ligiments im my ankel all at the same time.
  • Herniated disc in the 5th lower lumbar. Giving a lifting test to a potential warehouse employee with a back that was tense and out of shape. Happened twice . . . was in bed for two months each time. Finally changed jobs and my back problems went away.
  • I broke my arm when I fell off a bar!
  • Broken right tibia at age 7. It happened on a SEESAW, for pete's sake. Actually for Paul's sake - Paul was my boyfriend in third grade, one of the cutest little boys I ever saw. He was on the other end of the seesaw. I was up in the air with my ankles crossed under the board. The end-of-recess bell rang, he jumped off (didn't mean to hurt me - just didn't think), and my own weight on the board, coming down, broke my right leg.
  • Tore my quad-tendon from my kneecap. Went to garage for something. There's a couple of steps up to the dining room. Stepped up with left foot, and as I raised the right one, left foot slipped backward. Apparently, attempting to keep balance and keep from falling back into garage, I did an unpreppared deep knee bend, falling on my left foot... Right was bent too, but slipped out forward. I laid with my head and shoulders in the garage above the concrete floor 2 steps down, and the rest of me inside on the dining room floor for a few seconds. I tried to raise my left leg, and my heal dragged on the floor - My knee would bend, but I couldn't raise my foot off the floor. I pulled myself in and laid there a few more seconds, and tried again... No go. First and ONLY time I've ever had to call an ambulance to get me to the hospital... I couldn't get up! They came, assessed the situation, and called the fire department for backup to get me up. Meanwhile, I'm laying there, and the ambulance guys are petting our new puppy! GEEZE! (I was fine but for the knee... But still... !) Fire department showed up, petted the dog a couple of minutes, and they used a "clamshell" lift to get me off the floor to the gurney. Then had to lift me down the steps from the front porch to the walkway. Then to the ambulance. X-rays at ER showed nothing broken, so they put me in a cheap-a-- plastic splint and sent me home. Getting back into the van (back seat) was fun in itself, then had to xfer from the van to the porch without using my leg. Got butt onto porch, scooted into house, then used arms to get up on recliner. WHEW! Took about 3 weeks to get appointment with orthopaedic surgeon, then another 1 or so to get appointment with open-sided MRI, then another 1 or 2 to go back to ortho, then HE referred me to one in Indy. When I went there, was scheduled for surgery on knee in about a week. Spent 5 days in hosptial, 6 weeks in rehab center with an external fixator (think steel towel-rack screwed into thigh and calf in two places each), 6 weeks not moving leg much in hospital bed at home (much better splint, but fixator removed) and about 4 months or so of 2x per week physical therapy to get leg to bend 90 degrees. Pretty much been that way since mid-2004. Sucks! :-(

Then fell the rest of the way to the concrete floor on my left shoulder tearing my scapula appart. The fork lift actually saved my life. If I had not hit it on the way down my head would have hit the floor killing me.
  • I am experiencing it right now. I am a dancer and messed up my IT band. Not an uncommon injury for a dancer. Not sure how it happened. Just overworked it or worked incorrectly. It took a while for me to realize that anything was wrong. I go to a dancer physical therapist twice a week. Although that is painful, the worse pain is not being able to dance for a while. I am thankful I have met so many nice people on AB to keep me company while I recuperate. +4 http://www.rice.edu/~jenky/sports/itband.v2.html
