They say 9/11, but that wasn't muslims or Bin Laden (The FBI's website doesn't even have 9/11 as one of the reasons Osama is wanted, due to lack of evidence). 9/11 was done by Bush & Friends. And before you downrate me please do some research. If you have any questions, ask. I'll be happy to debate with you.

They stopped doing what the US wanted and became a convenient target for scapegoating due to the actions of a minority. Remember that Bin Laden was trained, armed and supported by the CIA. It was only when he and the rest of the Mujahedin was no longer of use to the West that the US suddenly realized that they'd organized a group of rabid nut bags into a cohesive fighting force that now had access to weapons and had gone international. This was especially so after the Russians started torturing and slaughtering people in Chechnya, with a blind eye turned by the US and the Serbs carried out ethnic cleansing in Croatia and Bosnia. Also, the relationship between the US and Israel and the US military presence in Saudi Arabia, considered sacred land to Muslims, were seen as direct challenges to Islamic values in many quarters. These facts were of course conveniently ignored in the West, until militants began actively targetting their former pay masters. As it's often easier to scapegoat an entire religion, rather than admit unpleasant truths, this is what was done in the West, particularly in the US. It suited the agenda of the US government to keep people ignorant of what was really going on and have them be afraid of Islam, rather than face the fact that this particular Frankenstein's monster was largely created by the US itself. Don't forget that the worst massacre in Europe since World War II, was the one that took place in Srebrenica in the 1990's. The UN literally stood by while thousands of Muslims were massacred by Serbs. The only unit that intervened were from the British army and they were too small to make a difference and had to pull back to the UN compound when the Dutch contingent refused to help them as they couldn't get air support. The Dutch were told that they'd "faxed the wrong form." The first video clip here is an account of this massacre of Muslims in Europe. The second and third are from a fictional movie by Oliver Stone - Savior, with Dennis Quaid, that is nonetheless a pretty accurate portrayal of conditions on the ground at the time. The second clip depicts a hostage exchange between Muslims and Serbs (the music in the second clip interestingly is Macedonian, not Serbian but suits the subject perfectly). The third clip depicts one of the Croation death squads that largely targetted Muslims and is definitely not for children. If you were a Muslim in Europe at this time, how would you have felt about the West?
