The road to salvation or the highway of brainwashing? Your thoughts?

"Religion" is a broad term. That's like asking do highways lead to good places or bad places.

Like I always say... Don't blame the God for the Religion because chances are... He had absolutely NOTHING to do with it.

I believe "religion" in its purest sense is a goal for which everyone strives. However, the process of religion and dictated by the organized religions is pure brainwashing meant to control actions, monitary gain, and provide power to the church heads.

Much closer to the highway of brainwashing than the salvation thing. Although, I don't think that the majority of religious people intend to brainwash others, even though that's what they do. It's probably because they've been brainwashed...

My thoughts is that the majority has got it all wrong in its interpretation of the bible and I refuse to be a part of it. Plus, I'm starting to have a problem with a book that's full of things that make no sense and are impossible to have happened. I'm starting to think its a book of fiction.

Those are my only choices? I say neither. Some people are independent...and live their lives according to what makes sense to them. The extremes you suggest are not all that religion is. Great scientits have been known to be devoutly religious..great intellects as well. They surely are not among the "brainwashed". Most people believe whatever Dogma their particular religion requires of them...but some people actually believe that all religions are equally worthy/valuable and any one of the them will lead to salvation! :)
