Hi. I had the same problem; the game would not play fresh out of the box but other games would work fine on my PS2 slim. I took a Q-tip swab and cleaned around the laser. Works great now! My first guitar hero - yeah!!

If any others of you out there purchased the guitar hero: world tour game when it was released and have suffered the game not working, contact me. I like, probably thousands of other people, bought Guitar Hero: World Tour, on pre-order and received it the day it was released. To my disappointment it did not work. I then returned the game to receive a replacement. This did not work either. This then led me to do some researching on google and found forum after forum of people having the same problem. I have come to this conclusion. Sony have deliberately designed a game that will only work with the brand new PS2 models. This is not on as it says absolutely nowhere on the Ps2 version of the game that it has this compatibility issue. If you are having or have had the same problem, can you contact me with your name, email address, so that I can get as much evidence together as possible as I am making a formal complaint against the company, as they have breached the trading standard laws by not stating it isn’t compatiable with the older PS2 models. I had the same problem. my ps2 was a ver 7. i did some research and found out that they tested the game on older consoles.i found out that most people have had this problem had to buy a new p2s slim ver 8 or 9. the older systems cant handle the ghwt because some cant handle a dual layer dvd (or dvd9). so far there is only 3 dvd9 gaqmes out so far. they are god of war, rock band 2, and gh world tour. i had to buy a new ps2 . the new ones are ver 9 . and can handle the game with no problem. there also was a problem with the disks some were no done right and will not load or gives u a disk error. to see if its the disk i took mine to my local game stop and had them try it on a ver 9 ps2. i had to go thru 3 disks before i got a good one. i hope this helps people out.
