Why is confidence (in a potential romantic partner) attractive? Not our emotional reactions, but WHY do we have those reactions? What evolutionary survival value does attraction to confidence have?

Confidence means many things to many people. I, personally, am turned off by those who exhibit a great deal of confidence..it can come off as brash, arrogant and pompous. The real confidence that matters isn't apparent immediately. It comes from getting to know someone. Just my humble opinion. :)
