find the Oreburg gym leader he is at the bottom of the mine. he will disappear from there. go back to the gym and challenge him. pokemon might wanna be around level 10 use either a water type, grass type of flying. i beat the first gym using my turtwig level 15. for some reason it still obeyed me at that level. pokemon obedience goes by how many badges you have can find it in the book you got with the game if you got one. if not look up "Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Gym badges"
