Yes. The ring finger is the only finger that when you lock your hands together you cannot move them apart from each other.
-
Oww! My ears! Please stop yelling.

Lots of people believe in astrology and think wearing certain stones in certain fingers brings them luck. I believe in no such thing and if I wear rings in more than one finger its only because it looks pretty.

The reason that the ring finger has signifigance stems back to the Ancient Greeks. They didn't know anything about the controls of the human body and didn't have the advanced knowledge of biology, what they did know was that rings were the only thing that would stay on a warrior without getting in the way, necklaces could get tangled in combat for example. They also knew that the left hand was the one closest to the heart. For reasons unknown to me, they believed that the 2nd smallest finger held some signifigance in spirituality. So it held to reason that to be spiritually attached as close to the heart and in a way that is non-interfering with the ways of the time, the 2nd smallest finger on the left hand got a ring. For some reason we hold that tradition.

Yeah if I am trying to attract women, I can put on a ring to make them think I am married. For some reason, many girls are more attracted to married men.
-
Socially, yes.

Your caps lock is on.
-
Yes! Certain fingers signify marriage!

If you abide by tradition then, yes. But if you're not a rule follower then, no. The way I see it, there is no significance with wearing a ring at all. Tradtionally it was meant to advertise yourself to men of your marital status so as to avoid misunderstandings.

Perhaps if I yell it back at you: STOP TYPING IN ALL CAPS. Now, does that seem the least bit rude to you? Do you know what the CapsLock key on your keyboard does? Do you know how to press it once, and then use Shift when you need a capital letter?

I don't know, but I get more attention when I wear a ring on my middle finger. Doesn't that signify something?
