My hair has always had a lot of fly away too.. she can try a few things.. one thing I used to use was chap stick. I know this sounds weird but if you just lightly move the fly away down into the hair it gets them to stay down. To make it seem a little bit more stylish you can get one with sparkles in it and flavored. I used to get a lot of compliments on my sparkly hair when I was younger!
Another thing you can try it hand lotion. Once again you can go for sparkly and scented. If she just puts it on her hands as if she were using it as hand lotion and then rubs it in and then runs her hands through her hair while its still a little bit oily on her hands it should smooth it out
There also a hair product line called SunSilk that's amazing. They have all different shampoos. One volumizes, another conditions, and so on.. find the one you think would work best on her. They really work well; just dont use them everyday or they stop having as much of an effect.

I hope one of these things helps and I hope she's well.. she'll be in my prayers

There is a hair product called biosilk, it is not a styling product it is actually silk protien. It does not make your hair greasy and it smells good! Hope this helps!

When that happens to me, I usually spray some hairspray on my hair brush and run it through my hair. Another thing that I used to do (and I know this sounds nuts) was put Downy in a spray bottle, dilute it with water and when my hair was still wet, give my hair a little spritz. When it dried, my hair smelled nice and no static!! :)

I wouldn't recommend anything oily or greasy, as you say her hair is very thin so even a tiny amount could leave her hair looking very greasy and lank. I'd experiment with some volumizing gel or mousse, which while making the hair appear thicker can also help control the static.

If her hair is not growing out evenly then a cut might make it appear thicker. Uneven hair has the appearance of being flyaway and thin. A blunter cut may help. There are also products that will make each hair thicker and therefore give her an overall thicker feel. These products can be easily found where ever you buy shampoo. Products with Panthenol work well.

I'm not sure if this is an option that your daughter is willing to consider, but many hair salons can offer hair extensions which might make her feel a little less self-conscious. Also many hair replacement centers offer wigs free of charge to many children with cancer. Many use the latest technology which makes them harder to detect. If you need more information, feel free to email me directly. Best of luck to your daughter and your family. I'm praying for a speedy recovery.

Use a LITTLE bit of olive oil or 100% coconut oil in your hand, rub your hands together to spread it out, and then lightly run your hands over the ends and frizy parts. Don't add oil to the scalp area, because it will look greasy quickly, and make the hair look lank. If you get too much oil on your hand, rub it into your hands and elbows or knees first, then use the left over on your hair. Coconut oil might need to have the bottle put under hot water to liquefy it, because unless you live in a fairly warm climate it will be solid at room temp. They sell coconut oil that is excellent, smells yummy, and is inexpensive at Indian/Asian grocery stores. Or you can order it offline. I use Parachute coconutoil, it is in a bright blue bottle. Hope this helps!

For the thin hair try volume shampoo and conditioner. My mother had THIN hair and it helped to make it thicker. As for the static I'm not sure, but some of the other ideas sounded good and it dosen't hurt to try. God bess your little girl.

To help with all the static you can use regular lotion (hand lotion) and put a little in her hands and run it thru her hair this will help a lot with the static - her skin is too dry and that is why this is causing that - you can also use cholesterol that you can buy in the hair isle but cheaper is lotion

I hope she feels better and god bless her

I don't think anything oily would help. Try some volumizing shampoo, I reccomend Herbal Essences volumizing shampoo and conditioner. Most stores carry anti-static hair brushes for 5-10 dollars. (US) But they're probably available in other parts of the world, too. I use one myself, and I've found that it helps a lot with static...

    Hope that helps.

No, I wouldn't do the mayonaise. I've done it befor and all it does is make your hair over greasey and it's to hard to get the grease out.Try a hair serum like biosilk. I've been using that for years and I love it.

Go look in the hair care section of Wal-Mart. There is a product called Hask Placenta, it's placental protein from animals in liquid form. It's wonderful for dry, damaged, frizzy, staticky, permed, or color treated hair. My own hair is all of those but permed, but it is naturally very curly which makes it dry, frizzy, and very unmanageable. I swear by this stuff. You put it on your hair after towel drying, almost like a leave in conditioner. It's fantastic!

Spray Static Guard on her hairbrush/comb each time she uses it. It eliminates all static and leaves nothing on the hair. Your question was two years ago. I hope she is better now.

A good spray wax is by Sexy hair products. Called "Be Dirty" it is light weight and will really control her static. You can put it on wet and then if you need more you can spray it on dry. "Less is More" with this product. Don't use to much or it will feel real dirty. just do one light mist over each section of her head. This can be found in salons even Walmart salons.

I firmally suggest: Paul Mitchell baby don't cry shampoo. It is very good for new health hair growth. She can even bathe in it, if her skin is feeling dry.
It may be carried in the retail stores or in the Walmart salons.

For the static electricity I would use a cond. in the shower and then a leavein cond. with a little spray wax before drying. They will both protect her hair and scalp and balance out the static.

I would suggest TRESemme' for the condtioners. Great product and low cost. You can get it at Walmart.

Good Luck, I have been doing hair for 21 years.

cholesterol is good, for static it will not make her hair thicker though. the only thing I know that will definitely make the hair thicker is shaving it, I dont think she would want to do that so maybe try a thickening shampoo and after care. I know John Freida has some that are supposed to be good. Good luck !
