Has anyone ever burnt the Thanksgiving turkey?

I been to places it was under-cooked but never burnt. Poor people - I say that because I hate turkey and will usually cook a ham instead.

No, never. But I have undercooked a couple in my time! :)

Not really. But the first time I ever cooked one in an electric oven I didn't realize that the I had put it on broil. We went for a nice walk and came back to the aroma of roasting turkey filling the house. I thought, "odd. We've only been gone for 45 minutes or so." Opened the oven. Saw the top element glowing red. and a lovely top-element-shaped mark of darker brown on top of the turkey! Fortunately it was not on full broil but temperature-controlled broil, otherwise we'd likely have come back to a cinder. It retained the darker mark but was a beautifully done bird, overall.
