I happen to be one of those people. I wish like anything I wasn't! I hate it!!! My dad said my mother was like that and he used to tell her we need to leave 30 minutes earlier than we really needed to leave. Therefore, we left on time. Hope this helps! =D

People like that really upset me, because they are thinking only of themselves and not the impact it will have on everyone else. When I talk to people like that I always tell them 15-30 minutes earlier than what I tell everyone else.

Not unless there are consequences for them not being on time. Such as, "We are meeting at 6:00 pm sharp. Anyone who is not here at 6:00 will be left behind" -- then, instead of waiting around for the slowpoke, the rest of the party goes on about their plans. At work, we write up anyone who is late three or more times. Three write ups in your file is grounds for suspension (no pay) or termination. This applies to the start of their shift and also to company-wide meetings, which they get paid for.

I know exactly how you feel! I find it is so disrespecful to miss deadlines! btw.. have you ever seen the film "Clockwise" with John Cleese? I thought it was more of a documentary than a comedy *L*

don't stress out meeting up with people at the time you said. take your time, don't rush. I had friends like that, aaaalways late. but you can't change them, so take your time... and breathe

In your mind, assume the actual time of the appointment is 3-minutes past the time other people *think* it is. ..Or.. tell all attendees that you have this weird affliction where you feel a bit weird sitting around waiting for tardy people... so can they please be there at least 30 seconds before official start time. My own policy is that arrival at the destination up to 60 seconds after the 'start time' is acceptable... but any more is considered late... since most people sit around opening books and chit-chat in that first minute. The other problem is that some people dont really care if their watch is a couple minutes early or late.
