I think it does. A 90 year old dying of old age induced system failure is far less aggrieving than a 15 year old committing suicide. At least, it is to me.

Yes - if a very very old relative dies peacefully I think you would feel less grief than if your child died in an accident for example.

Usually intensify. The more details the worse it is.

My father died suddenly at age 80. He did not suffer. He always said he would hate to be in a nursing home. It was a great way to go. But the suddenness of it was harder on the family than if he had been ill and in failing health.
