  • Get your mind set that you WILL clean out, have boxes or bags handy and label them "TOSS", "DONATE" (tax deductions) and "KEEP." I find when I clean, it's more fun when I put on some fast paced music. If you find anything that someone gave you, put that in a separate box and make sure you offer it back before disposing of it. Promise yourself that you won't allow yourself to do your usually daily entertainment (TV/web surfing/AB) until you're finished. After each 2 hours on the cleaning project, take a 1/2 hour break, and set the timer. Get back to it until another 2 hours have passed. If you feel like you want to keep going, then go for it. When you're finished, allow yourself that special treat for the accomplishment and be proud of yourself!

  • I have a friend that has a disorder called a "Horder". She barely has room to walk in her home and can`t even get to her front door. She has things in bags from stores unopened and years old just piled up. Every now and then something falls!! She is talking about tearing down her home to build another one because she just can`t live in the one she`s in now. Not enough room. As for me, I used to keep every little thing but now heading up in age...Im trying to make cleaner lines in my home... less clutter and throwing out the things I look at twice and ask myself if I`m ever going to need this ? If I have to question it then it goes to the garbage or I give it to someone else to live with.
  • well the worst options are to let the items pile up and congest your home & your life; throw away perfectly usable items and clog up landfills; rent a storage unit for those items (often paying much more for the item than its worth); or buying a larger home to accommodate stuff you dont always necessarily need. it may be helpful to hire a professional organizer. they can help make the sorting and organizing process a lot less painful! i have done some of that work myself when ive helped people get their homes ready to sell ~ i call it feng shui boot camp! it feels FANTASTIC and FREEING to purge old stuff. each item you let go and donate to others or sell to breathe new life into them, creates room for new & vibrant treasures, energy & opportunity to enter your life.
  • It rents a storage locker
