  • Sometimes. And sometimes the bad die young. Alot of very good people live to ripe old ages!!!
  • maybe because of their good deeds they finished their life goal early so god decided to take them!
  • Not all of them do. For example, Gandhi lived to the age of 78, and Mother Teresa lived to the age of 87.
  • Well, the good don't always die young, like AR said, look at Ghandi. But when they do, it's usualy because their strong beliefs and good heart have led them to be martyrs, and the life expectancy for martyrs is'nt very high.
  • If this is so, I'll get my letter from the Queen I think!
  • I wasn't aware that they did. I know alot of good people who are quite old. Don't know too many bad ones though. Maybe some that are just cranky and cantankerous. Everyone I ever knew that was "bad to the bone" is either dead or in prison.
  • Because the best ones for some reason almost always think there's something beyond the grave,so they really aren't scared of death. I personally am not afraid of death and I'm absolutely positive that there's something beyond the grave, but I gurantee you it's not heaven or any other thing related with god.
  • Because of irony. A lot good people want to live and a lot of bad people want to die. Maybe some of the greatest people are actually angels and don't die but are sent/taken back to where they belong.
  • According to Billy Joel its being Catholic. Thats why the good die young.
  • I believe that young doesn't exactly pertain to age. I think that was meant by this statement is that people who are "good" die ignorant. I am not sure but I believe that this statement came from a Billy Joel song. This song was about very religious southerns who where unwilling to have premarital sex. So what I believe that is saying is that those who never stray from the path die ignorant of the world that held so much more than they experienced.
  • False assumption. But when anyone dies they get a polite eulogy. When they are young, their age compounds the tragedy. They too get a nice eulogy. With the youth, besides ignoring their flaws and youthful indiscretions, we have the advantage of being able to mourn their lost futures and all they might have achieved. This is a blank canvas upon which we may paint ANY picture, but it will be a flattering one. We never suggest, outside of conversation, that "he was a hoodlum and got what was coming to him." Eulogies are for the living, to comfort them. They are not biographical. Thd corollary to this is that the bad live a long time. This may have been true for Saddam, but most really bad people have a markedly shorter lifetime.
  • because it is near impossible to live without sin.
  • Good thing,,,,ill be around for a while in that case!
  • WHEN the good die young I think it is because of the actions of others. Unfortunately, we can't control the actions of others that in something of a chain reaction affect innocents, or "the good". My aunt once dated a preacher who sped like demons from hell were chasing him. He claimed the Lord wouldn't take him before his time. My aunt told him, even if it IS your time, it's not mine--slow down!
  • We know when the good die young because it is newsworthy and it is brought to our attention. The scumbags die young as well but it is rarely of great public interest .... unless they are reaaaallly bad,
  • It's just a phrase nothing more, when your number is up that's it. Both the good and bad die young, and die old.
  • Not all good die young, however it has been said that bad things happen to good people. It is in my opinion that God put us on earth for a reason and when we succeed in this reason then our time on earth is done. God calls them home to be with him. "Good People" are the ones who live their life and accomplish the goal set by god. And to die is not considered the end or a bad thing. It is for them to start a new beginning in a new place.
  • i ve often wondered if that statement wasn t invented by a very negative person who originally stated, only the young die good?people dissagreed with it and changed it to ,only the good die young.another odd one that sounds better reversed is ,you can t have your cake and eat it too,of course you can.if you said, you can t eat your cake and have it too, that would make more sense.
  • An older fireman in Stratford asked that very thing today. Why could it not have been older men that died in the fire in Atherstone rather than young men?
  • I think that when a person goes it is because God decides that they have finished whatever it was that he sent them to do...
  • they deserve to go to heaven quicker
  • because they havent had time to be bad yet?
  • A better question might be, why don't the jerks die sooner?
  • Because they haven't had enough time to be bad!
  • All part of god's plan, I'm sure. The good die young, the bad never die, the children suffer, the adults are stupid...nobody said it had to make sense much less be fair
  • Why do the good die old? Why is there war? Why don't we resolve poverty? Why why why...
  • because thats what the song said.
  • Because they are not like everyone else..
  • Not all of them do. That's just something people tell themselves to make themselves feel better when someone dies.
