1) Bring your condoms from home and store in a cool place such as a fridge. Latex breaks down in heat. 2) Don't forget to get your hepatitis shots a long time before you leave for the Caribbean. 3) Photocopy your passport, birth certificate, bank cards, drivers licence etc.. Keep in separate place from originals. 4) Bring an empty bag to bring back your souvenirs, and other purchases. 5) Bring along a copy of the "Lonely Planet" guide book for the island you will be visiting. 6) Go online to your government web site and find out about travel alerts (U.S. State Department). 7) Do not buy or use traveler's checks. They are hard to cash. There are atm's on most main islands that accepts credit or debit cards. Cuba is another matter. 8) Caribbean has a high AIDS-HIV rate. 9) Bring along flag lapel pins as gifts for locals. Do not give money to beggars or children! 10) Buy travel health insurance before you leave home. 11) Bring copies of your medical prescriptions.

Any travel-vacation-holiday checklist will work for the essentials. Be sure to take your passport--and copies of it and keep them separate. Sunblock and sunglasses Patience....there is a real thing called island time. Don't get impatient if someone takes too long to get your drink, wait on you etc.
